Beginning July 25, Tony winner Julie White (The Little Dog Laughed), Tony nominee Stephen McKinley Henderson (Fences), and Erin Wilhelmi (The Crucible) will take over for Tony winner Laurie Metcalf and Tony nominees Chris Cooper and Condola Rashad, respectively. Tony winner Jayne Houdyshell will remain in the production.
Directed by Sam Gold, the production has scenic design by Miriam Buether, costume design by David Zinn, lighting design by Jennifer Tipton, sound design by Leon Rothenberg, hair and makeup design by Luc Verschueren/Campbell Young Associates, and projection design by Peter Nigrini.
A Doll's House, Part 2 celebrated its opening night on April 27 at the John Golden Theatre. The play is described as follows: "In the final scene of Ibsen's 1879 groundbreaking masterwork, Nora Helmer makes the shocking decision to leave her husband and children, and begin a life on her own. This climactic event — when Nora slams the door on everything in her life — instantly propelled world drama into the modern age. In A Doll's House, Part 2, many years have passed since Nora's exit. Now, there's a knock on that same door. Nora has returned. But why? And what will it mean for those she left behind?"
