Soho Rep has announced that its 2013-2014 season will comprise one New York premiere by David Adjmi and one world premiere by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. Both shows will feature large casts and transform stories about historical characters into plays about the here and now.

Rebecca Taichman will direct the New York premiere of Marie Antoinette by David Adjmi from October 9-November 3, with an opening on October 20. Produced in association with John Adrian Selzer, American Repertory Theater, and Yale Repertory Theatre, Marie Antoinette will star Marin Ireland (The Big Knife). This play, which takes a look at a moment in time when the political suddenly got very personal, will also feature Steven Rattazzi, David Greenspan, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Karl Miller, Jen Ikeda, and Aimee Laurence.

In spring 2014, Sarah Benson will helm the world premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ An Octoroon. Presented in association with John Adrian Selzer, this production is a meta-melodrama version of the play by Dion Boucicault.
Soho Rep’s season will also include Write With Us, a weeklong festival of free writing workshops with Soho Rep alumni.
