New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players has announced casting for its forthcoming production of H.M.S. Pinafore; or, The Lass That Loved a Sailor, which will perform at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College from December 30 – January 8 as part of the company's 48th annual season.

Set on a navy vessel, H.M.S. Pinafore W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan's a tuneful send-up of the politics and manners of Victorian Britain; but it could very well be about any decadent society — like ours.

NYGASP regular James Mills will lead the cast as First Sea Lord Sir Joseph Porter, a man who secured his position through political loyalty rather than maritime experience.

Mills will be joined by David Auxier as Captain Corcoran, soprano Michelle Seipel as Josephine, Angela Christine Smith as Little Buttercup, Cameron Smith as Ralph Rackstraw, Victoria Devany as the leader of Sir Joseph's "sisters and his cousins and his aunts," Lance Olds as Dick Deadeye, Matthew Wages as Bill Bobstay, and David Wannen as the ship's Carpenter.

The ensemble includes Caitlin Borek, Brooke Collins, Michael Connolly, Michael Galante, Hannah Holmes, Sarah Hutchison, Claire Leyden, David Macaluso, Daniel Z. Miller, Logan Pitts, Chris-Ian Sanchez, Nathan Seldin, Laura Sudduth, and Laurelyn Watson-Chase.

Founder and Artistic Director Albert Bergeret shares the conductor's podium with Associate Conductor Joseph Rubin.
