The concert event at SubCulture will reunite Brown and Butz for first time in a decade.
Tony Award-winning performer Norbert Leo Butz is scheduled to join Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown for a one-night concert at SubCulture on March 13. The event, which is part of Brown's ongoing artist-in-residency program at the venue, takes the place of a planned January 26 concert that would have reunited the two artists but that was canceled due to weather. Les Misérables favorite Caissie Levy is also set to star.
Butz originated the role of Jamie in Brown's musical The Last Five Years when it premiered in 2002. He is also known for his Tony-winning performances in the musicals Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Catch Me If You Can. Levy most recently starred as Fantine in Les Misérables on Broadway and has also appeared in the Broadway productions of Wicked, Ghost the Musical, and more.
Jason Robert Brown's musical Honeymoon in Vegas is currently running at the Nederlander Theatre, and a film version of The Last Five Years was released on February 13. He is also the author of the musicals Parade, The Bridges of Madison County, 13 the Musical, and Songs for a New World.
