Producer Ken Davenport has announced that The Awesome 80s Prom will end its record-breaking nine-year run at The Wall on November 2. The production is reported to have lost its lease of the space, as The Wall moves toward hosting live music performances as opposed to off-Broadway entertainment.
The Awesome 80s Prom ends its run as off-Broadway’s second-longest-running interactive show. Davenport commented on the show’s closing: “The Awesome 80s Prom was my first show in New York, and I couldn’t be more proud of our awesome run.” The producer also expressed the potential for the production to be remounted at another venue. “We’re still hopeful that we’ll find another NYC venue and will be able to reopen soon,” Davenport said. “But in the meantime, I’m going to start working on The Phat 90s Prom.”
