Roundabout Theatre Company presents the first Broadway revival of Cy Coleman, Adolph Green, and Betty Comden’s 1978 musical.
All aboard! The Broadway revival of On the Twentieth Century celebrates opening tonight at Roundabout Theatre Company's American Airlines Theatre. You can see TheaterMania's photo and video coverage of Thursday night's cast celebration of On the Twentieth Century on our site tomorrow. Due to the illness of star Peter Gallagher in previews, reviews will be held until Sunday evening, March 15, to allow time for critics to see the production with Gallagher.
With music by Cy Coleman and book and lyrics by Adolph Green and Betty Comden, On the Twentieth Century is a madcap musical comedy set entirely on a train, the luxurious Twentieth Century, from Chicago to New York. Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth (Wicked) stars as movie star Lily Garland, and Tony nominee Peter Gallagher (The Country Girl) plays Oscar Jaffee, the down (but not out) Broadway producer trying to woo her back to the Great White Way.
The cast also features Tony nominee Andy Karl (Rocky), Tony winner Mary Louise Wilson (Grey Gardens), Tony winner Michael McGrath (Nice Work If You Can Get It), and Mark Linn-Baker (You Can't Take It With You). Drama Desk winner Scott Ellis (The Elephant Man) directs.
