Burns won a Drama Desk Award for her performance in ”In the Heights”.
Andréa Burns, one of the stars of the new Broadway musical On Your Feet!, will take the stage at Feinstein's/54 Below on November 9 and 16, and December 14 to present her new solo concert.
The evening "presents a hilarious and moving evening that explores finding a state of grace at forty while reasserting that Latinas don’t play." The set list includes tunes by Sara Bareilles, Stephen Sondheim, Celia Cruz, and Peter Gabriel. Hamilton's Alex Lacamoire, who worked with Burns on the original Broadway production of In the Heights, will serve as musical director.
Burns originated the role of Daniela in In the Heights and won a Drama Desk Award for her work. She currently plays Gloria Fajardo in the Gloria and Emilio Estefan biographical musical at the Marquis Theatre. Her Broadway credits also include The Ritz, The Full Monty, The Nance, and Beauty and the Beast. With Jason Robert Brown, she starred in Songs for a New World and the national tour of Parade.
