Pendleton will return to the classic musical in which he once starred.
Original Fiddler on the Roof cast member Austin Pendleton will helm a new production of the classic musical next winter at the Massachusetts-based New Repertory Theatre.
Pendleton, who originated the role of Motel the Tailor on Broadway, will stage the Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, and Joseph Stein tuner December 2-24, with actor Jeremiah Kissel taking on the iconic role of Tevye. Additional information about the production will be revealed in the coming months.
The New Rep season will also include Richard Nelson's Regular Singing, the fourth production in Nelson's Apple Family Plays cycle. Joel Colodner, Laura Latrielle, Karen MacDonald, Paul Melendy, Bill Mootos, and Sarah Newhouse star in the production, which is directed by Weylin Symes and runs September 3-25.
Also set for the season are C.P. Taylor's Good, directed by Jim Petosa and starring Michael Kaye and Tim Spears (October 8-30); George Stevens Jr.'s Thurgood, starring Johnny Lee Davenport (January 7-February 5, 2017); Brecht on Brecht, directed by Petosa (February 4-March 5); William Gibson's Golda's Balcony, directed by Judy Braha and featuring Bobbie Steinbach (March 25-April 16); and Lydia R. Diamond's The Gift Horse, directed by Petosa (April 22-May 14).
