John Rubenstein, who made his Broadway debut in the original 1972 production of Pippin and received a Theater World Award for the title role, will join the cast of the musical's current revival at the Music Box Theater this summer. Rubenstein will play a limited engagement, from June 20-July 27, in the role of Charles. He fills in for Terrence Mann, who is taking a leave of absence during that period.

Pippin is helmed by Diane Paulus. The revival of Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson's classic coming-of-age musical features the death-defying tricks of a contemporary circus with choreography by Chet Walker in the style of Bob Fosse, and features circus creations by Gypsy Snider of the circus troupe Les 7 doigts de la main.

The current cast is led by Kyle Dean Massey as Pippin, Ciara Renée as Leading Player, Charlotte d'Amboise as Fastrada, Rachel Bay Jones as Catherine, and Annie Potts as Berthe. Other members of the company include Erik Altemus, Luke Kolbe Mannikus, Ashton Woerz, Colin Cunliffe, Fernando Dudka, Andrew Fitch, Orion Griffiths, Sabrina Harper, Kelsey Jamieson, Preston Jamieson, Olga Karmansky, Richard Maguire, Gabrielle McClinton, Bethany Moore, Brad Musgrove, Mirela Golinska Roche, Billy Harrigan Tighe, Molly Tynes, and Anthony Wayne.
