Sam Gold will direct the tragedy at Public Theater.
Stage and screen favorite Oscar Isaac will take on the title role in Hamlet for the Public Theater, in a new production of the Shakespearean tragedy directed by Tony winner Sam Gold. The production will run June 20-September 3 in the Anspacher Theater, with the press opening set for July 13.
The company will also include Roberta Colindrez (Rosencrantz), Peter Friedman (Polonius), Keegan-Michael Key (Horatio), Gayle Rankin (Ophelia, Second Gravedigger), Matthew Saldívar (Guildenstern), and Anatol Yusef (Laertes). Complete casting will be announced at a later date.
Hamlet features scenic design by David Zinn, costume design by Kaye Voyce, lighting design by Mark Barton, sound design by Bray Poor, and musical direction, composition, and performance by cellist Ernst Reijseger.
