The Bard’s classic tale of jealousy begins its limited run at the Hudson Guild Theater.
The New York Shakespeare Exchange's production of William Shakespeare's Othello will open tonight at the Hudson Guild Theatre. The play, directed by Cristina Lundy, will run through Saturday, November 2.
Othello tells the story of a respected military officer who is duped by an envious and scheming rival, Iago, into believing that his wife has been unfaithful. The play examines the tragic potential of a violent jealousy.
The production's cast features Keldrick Crowder as Othello, Anna Van Valin as Desdemona, and Terence MacSweeny as Iago. Also featured are Carey Van Driest, David Price, Josh Jeffers, Anna Paratore, Anthony Manna, Katherine Puma, David Lapkin, Danny Rivera, John St. Croix, and Matthew Velez. The design team includes G. Warren Stiles (set design), Daniel Winters (lighting design), Orli Nativ (costume design), and Cassie Dorland (props design). The composer is Shane Parks. Alicia Rodis is the fight choreographer.
