Veterans of Broadway’s ”Once” and ”Les Mis” also join the cast of David Ives’ comedy.
Chicago Shakespeare Theater has announced complete casting for its upcoming production of David Ives’ The Heir Apparent. Performances will be presented in the Courtyard Theater from November 29-January 17, 2016.
Adapted from Jean-François Regnard’s classic comedy, Le Légataire universel, The Heir Apparent is described as follows: "Young Eraste has it all — good looks, a beautiful fiancée and the prospect of a sizable inheritance from an elderly uncle. There’s just one snag: the uncle won’t die and he has bequeathed his entire fortune to someone else. Not to mention his uncle, Geronte, has his heart set on marrying Eraste’s fiancée, Isabelle."
Tony Award winner John Rando (On the Town) directs the production, led by Tony nominee Paxton Whitehead (The Importance of Being Earnest) as Geronte. The cast also features Nate Burger (The Liar) as Eraste, Emily Peterson (Sirens) as Isabelle, Linda Kimbrough (Richard III) as Madame Argante, Jessie Fisher (Once) and Cliff Saunders (Les Misérables) as servants Crispin and Lisette, and Patrick Kerr (You Can't Take It With You) as Scruple.
The creative team includes scenic design by Kevin Depinet, lighting design by Christine Binder, costume design by David C. Woolard, sound design by Richard Woodbury, and wig and make-up design by Melissa Veal.
