Broadway’s David Ryan Smith leads the cast in the Hitchcock-inspired comedy starting tonight.
Performances of The 39 Steps begin tonight at Actors Theatre of Louisville.
In the comedy, inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock movie and the classic spy novel, four comic actors play dozens of characters in one thrilling, hilarious noir adventure. This comic romp plunges you into the world of Richard Hannay, an ordinary man forced to go on the run after aiding a mysterious woman.
David Ryan Smith stars as Richard Hannay. Joining him are Jesse J. Perez (Clown 1), Carter Gill (Clown 2), and Zuzanna Szadkowski (Annabella Scmidt/Margaret/Pamela). Smith and Perez are returning to the Actors Theatre stage, while Gill and Szadkowki make their debut. Nathan Keepers directs the play from Patrick Barlow's script.
The production team for The 39 Steps includes William Boles (scenic design), Stowe Nelson (sound design), Alison Siple (costume design), and D.M. Wood (lighting design).
Performances run through September 18.
