Lillian Hellman's drama is set in 1940 in Washington, D.C. Fanny Farrelly is expecting the arrival of her daughter Sara, Sara’s German husband Kurt, and their children who have fled Europe due to Kurt’s role in the anti-Nazi resistance movement. When a Romanian houseguest who is a Nazi supporter discovers Kurt’s identity, he threatens to expose him. Lisa Peterson directs.
Sarah Agnew stars as as Sara Muller opposite Elijah Alexander as her husband Kurt. Joining them in the cast is Kate Guentzel (Marthe), Carley Clover (Babette Muller), James Detmar (Joseph), Hugh Kennedy (David Farrelly), Leontyne Mbele-Mbong (Anise), Caitlin O'Connell (Fanny Farrelly), Kate Regan (Babette Muller), Silas Sellnow (Joshua Muller), and Jonathan Walker (Teck de Brancovis). Hal Weilandgruber (Bodo Muller), Hal Weilandgruber and Huxley Westemeier will share the role of Bodo Muller.
The production features scenic design by Neil Patel, costume design by Raquel Barreto, lighting design by Alexander V. Nichols, and sound design by Paul James Prendergast. Lucinda Holshue serves as the vocal coash, Aaron Preusse the fight director, and Jo Holcomb as the dramaturg.
