The Kristin Chenoweth-led production has delayed opening due to Gallagher’s absences.
Peter Gallagher, who has already missed several performances of the new Broadway revival of On the Twentieth Century at the American Airlines Theatre, will be out of the evening performance on March 6 as well as the March 7 matinee. The production, which is currently in previews, has previously announced plans to delay its opening-night date from March 12 to March 15.
In addition to Gallagher, the production stars Kristin Chenoweth, along with Andy Karl, Mark Linn-Baker, Tony winner Michael McGrath, and Tony winner Mary Louise Wilson. The cast also includes Phillip Attmore, Justin Bowen, Preston Truman Boyd, Paula Leggett Chase, Ben Crawford, Rick Faugno, Jenifer Foote, Bahiyah Hibah, Drew King, Analisa Leaming, Kevin Ligon, Erica Mansfield, James Moye, Linda Mugleston, Mamie Parris, Andy Taylor, Jim Walton, and Richard Riaz Yoder.
The musical, which won 1978 Tony Awards for its book and score, follows bankrupt theater producer Oscar Jaffe (Gallagher), as he embarks on a madcap mission to cajole the glamorous Hollywood starlet Lily Garland (Chenoweth) into playing the lead in his new, nonexistent epic drama.
