On Thursday, June 2, Tony Award nominees Ellen Barkin, John Benjamin Hickey, and Joe Mantello recieved their Sardi’s charicatures at an event hosted by Village Voice writer Michael Musto.
Barkin, Hickey, and Mantello are currently starring as Dr. Emma Brookner, Felix Turner, and Ned Weeks in Broadway’s The Normal Heart at the Golden Theatre. The production is directed by Joel Grey and George C. Wolfe.
Larry Kramer’s play focuses on the terrifying early years of the AIDS epidemic in New York. It was originally produced by the Public Theatre in 1985 and was revived there in 2004.
The cast also features Patrick Breen as Mickey Marcus, Luke Macfarlane as Craig Donner/Grady, Lee Pace as Bruce Niles, Jim Parsons as Tommy Boatwright, Mark Harelik as Ben Weeks, Richard Topol as Hiram Keebler/Examining Doctor, and Wayne Wilcox as David.
