On Thursday, April 28, the Roundabout Theatre Company’s Broadway production of
The People In The Picture opened at the
Studio 54 Theatre.
The musical is directed by Leonard Foglia with musical direction by Paul Gemignanim and which features book and lyrics by Iris Rainer Dart and music by Mike Stoller and Artie Butler.
The show stars Tony Award winner Donna Murphy as Raisel, a theater star in pre-war Poland and now a grandmother in New York City ,who is determined to pass on her stories to the next generation.The cast also features Alexander Gemignani (Moishe), Christopher Innvar (Chaim), Nicole Parker (Red), Rachel Resheff (Jenny), Hal Robinson (Doovie, Rabbi Velvel), Lewis J. Stadlen (Avram Krinsky), Joyce Van Patten (Chyesel) and Chip Zien (Yoshie Pinsker); as well as Brad Bradley, Rachel Bress, Jeremy Davis, Emilee Dupre, Maya Goldman, Louis Hobson, Shannon Lewis, Andie Mechanic, Jessica Lea Patty, Megan Reinking, Jeffrey Schecter, and Paul Anthony Stewart.
Opening night guests included Matthew Broderick, Tovah Feldshuh, Tom Kirdahy, Kathleen Marshall, Carolyn McCormick, Terrence McNally, Denis O’Hare, Elizabeth Stanley, Susan Stroman, Max von Essen, and Andy Williams.
