Broadway's Wicked will welcome Chad Jennings and welcome back P.J. Benjamin beginning February 7. Benjamin will return in the role of the Wizard, and Jennings, direct from the national tour of Wicked, will take on the role of Doctor Dillamond.
They join a cast which currently includes Jennifer DiNoia as Elphaba, Kara Lindsay as Glinda, Sheryl Lee Ralph as Madame Morrible, Michael Campayno as Fiyero, Dawn E. Cantwell as Nessarose, and Zachary Noah Piser as Boq. Current cast members Peter Scolari (the Wizard) and Michael Genet (Doctor Dillamond) will give their final performances at the Gershwin Theatre on February 5.
Based on the novel of the same name by Gregory Maguire, Wicked is set in the land of Oz and tells the story of young girls Glinda and Elphaba, who grow up to become Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West, respectively.
Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento. The show opened October 30, 2003, making it currently the 10th-longest-running production in Broadway history.
