Kirkwood’s ”The Children” will transfer to Broadway from London’s Royal Court Theatre.
The Royal Court Theatre's production of Lucy Kirkwood's new drama The Children will make its Broadway debut this winter as part of Manhattan Theatre Club's 2017-18 season.
Directed by James Macdonald and featuring original London cast members Francesca Annis, Ron Cook, and Deborah Findlay, the drama will begin performances November 28 and open December 14 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. The work follows a pair of retired scientists who are visited by an old friend for a shocking reason as the world outside is torn apart by a nuclear disaster. The production will have scenic and costume design by Miriam Buether, lighting by Peter Mumford, and sound by Max Pappenheim.
Off-Broadway, MTC will present the New York premiere of Anna Ziegler's Actually as part of its Studio at Stage II – Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series. Directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz and presented in association with Williamstown Theatre Festival, the play follows a pair of Princeton freshman whose lives are altered after they spend a drunken night together.
Manhattan Theatre Club's season also includes the previously announced Prince of Broadway at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre and Eve Ensler's In the Body of the World at New York City Center – Stage I.
