The world premiere production features Peter Friedman and Deanna Dunagan, and is directed by David Cromer.
Playwrights Horizons announced a two-week extension of its world premiere production of Max Posner's The Treasurer. Originally set to close on October 22, it will now run through November 5.
The cast of The Treasurer features Marinda Anderson (Bella: An American Tall Tale), Pun Bandhu (Wit), Tony Award winner Deanna Dunagan (August: Osage County), and Tony Award nominee Peter Friedman (Hamlet).
The play is described as follows: "Ida Armstrong (Dunagan) is broke, lonely and fading fast. And she's spending all of her children's money, forcing her son (Friedman) to assume the unwanted role of The Treasurer: an arrangement that becomes untenable the more he questions his devotion to her. In this darkly funny, sharply intimate portrait, Max Posner chronicles the strained ties between a son and his aging mother, and the hell of a guilty conscience."
Directed by David Cromer, the creative team includes scenic design by Laura Jellinek, costume design by David Hyman, lighting design by Tony Award winner Bradley King, sound design by winner Mikhail Fiksel, and projection design by Lucy Mackinnon. The production stage manager is Brett Anders.
