The off-Broadway company Pocket Universe will present a new production of Francis Beaumont and John Fletcher's The Maid's Tragedy, running June 13-30 at the Access Theater.
The Jacobean revenge drama will be re-set in present day Hollywood, where sexual misconduct allegations jeopardize the careers of a powerful film producer and an actress. Conceived by Alyssa May Gold, the production is directed by Lucy Gram.
Featured in the company are Erin Roché as Melantius, Greg Carere as Amintor, Alyssa May Gold as Evadne, Michael Thatcher as the King, Sydney Battle as Aspatia, and Aleca Piper as Calianax, Dula, and Lysippus. The production will have lighting design by Christina F. Tang, movement direction by Valentine Aprile, and fight direction by Ned Donovan.
Pocket Universe's last production, in 2017, was Julius Caesar set in an all-girls high school.
