Joe Godfrey's new play Romance Language will receive its New York City premiere this fall at Theater 511 at Ars Nova. Directed by Carl Andress, the play begins previews on October 13 and will officially open October 22. The limited run will continue through November 8.
Romance Language follows a wealthy Manhattan widow who takes up private lessons with an alluring young Italian instructor. As their unexpected romance blossoms, her daughter raises doubts concerning this mysterious teacher's intentions.
The play will star Jessie Austrian (Fiasco Theater’s Into the Woods), Audrey Heffernan Meyer (Royal Pains), and Jared Zirilli (Pretty Filthy). The creative team includes scenic design by Paul Tate DePoo III, costume design by Tony Award nominee Gregory Gale, lighting design by Grant Yeager, and sound design by Bart Fasbender.
Romance Language, which is produced by RLNYC GROUP, had its world premiere in 2014 at Seven Angels Theatre in Waterbury, Connecticut.
