Andy Karl and Samantha Barks star in the new musical adaptation of the hit romantic comedy.
Pretty Woman: The Musical opens tonight, August 16, at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre.
Based on the popular 1990 movie starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, Pretty Woman: The Musical tells the story of how prostitute Vivian (Samantha Barks) and vulture capitalist Edward (Andy Karl) meet and fall in love. With a book by original screenwriter J.F. Lawton and film director Garry Marshall, Pretty Woman features an all-new score by Jim Vallance and Bryan Adams (the team behind chart-topping hits like "Summer of '69" and "Heaven"). Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots) directs and choreographs.
Joining Barks and Karl in the principal cast are Orfeh (Legally Blonde) as Kit, Jason Danieley (The Visit) as Philip, Ezra Knight (Cymbeline) as Mr. Morse, and Eric Anderson (Waitress) as the Happy Man.
Pretty Woman: The Musical reunites some of the design team behind Kinky Boots with scenery by David Rockwell, costumes by Gregg Barnes, and sound by John Shivers. Philip S. Rosenberg collaborates with Kenneth Posner on lighting. Josh Marquette is the hair designer.
