The legendary producer-director will discuss his upcoming book, ”Sense of Occasion”, among other subjects.
Manhattan Theatre Club announced that, after select performances of Prince of Broadway, Harold Prince will participate in postshow conversations moderated by theater scholar and Prince biographer Foster Hirsch. The conversations will be open to all ticket holders after the September 19, September 28, October 3, and October 12 performances.
Prince will, among other subjects, discuss his upcoming book, Sense of Occasion. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase at the merchandise counter.
Prince of Broadway includes songs and scenes from many of the shows that earned its namesake a record 21 Tony Awards. The show features a book by two-time Tony nominee David Thompson (The Scottsboro Boys); new songs, arrangements, orchestrations, and music supervision by three-time Tony winner Jason Robert Brown (The Bridges of Madison County); codirection and choreography by five-time Tony winner Susan Stroman (The Producers); and direction by Prince himself.
The cast features Tony Award winner Chuck Cooper (Caroline, or Change), Drama Desk Award winner Janet Dacal (In the Heights), Bryonha Marie Parham (After Midnight), Tony Award nominee Emily Skinner (Side Show), two-time Tony Award nominee Brandon Uranowitz (Falsettos), Kaley Ann Voorhees (The Phantom of the Opera), two-time Olivier Award nominee Michael Xavier (Sunset Boulevard), Tony Award nominee Tony Yazbeck (On the Town), and Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba (Contact).
