Pulitzer Prize-winning Disgraced Takes the Stage at the Mark Taper Forum

The play begins its run this evening.

Disgraced starts performances at the Mark Taper Forum tonight.

Amir has achieved the American Dream. He’s a corporate lawyer living on the Upper East Side of Manhattan with his beautiful wife, Emily, who is an artist. Despite being raised Muslim, Amir has abandoned his heritage in favor of assimilation. That choice, however, will be brought under close scrutiny when the couple decides to host a small dinner part. All rules of etiquette are cast aside as they examine and argue about religion, politics, and sex, in a contemporary exploration of identity.

Ayad Akhtar’s play is directed by Kimberly Senior, and the cast features J. Anthony Crane, Behzad Dabu, Hari Dhillon, Karen Pittman, and Emily Swallow.

The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (set design), Jennifer von Mayrhauser (costume design), Christine A. Binder (lighting design), Jill BC Du Boff (sound design), and David S. Franklin (stage manager).

Performances will run through July 17.
