Previews start February 2.
Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Zoe Kazan will join the previously announced Tyne Daly and Liev Schreiber in Roundabout Theatre Company’s Broadway revival of John Patrick Shanley’s Doubt: A Parable, which is set to begin previews at the American Airlines Theatre on February 2, 2024 ahead of an official opening night on February 29. The limited engagement is scheduled through April 14.
Daly will play Sister Aloysius, the principal of an all-boys Catholic school who must wrestle with her conscience when she suspects that beloved parish priest Father Flynn (Schreiber) has molested Donald Muller, the school’s first Black student. Bernstine will play Mrs. Muller and Kazan will play Sister James.
Scott Ellis directs the production, which will feature design by David Rockwell (sets), Linda Cho (costumes), Kenneth Posner (lights), and Mikaal Sulaiman (sound).
A Pulitzer Prize winner, Doubt was first presented in 2004 off-Broadway by Manhattan Theatre Club. It transferred to Broadway in 2005 with a cast headed by Cherry Jones, Brían F. O’Byrne, Adriane Lenox, and Heather Goldenhersh. Jones and Lenox, along with Shanley and director Doug Hughes, won Tony Awards for their work. Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Viola Davis, and Amy Adams led the film adaptation.
