Working Theater is set to produce a Directors Salon, running from March 17-22, at the Wild Project. The weeklong series of events aims to support emerging directors and theater artists in New York City by giving them the chance to showcase their work, meet with other artists, and hear from leaders in the field. All events are free and open to the public.

The event, which will involve over 50 artists, will kick off with a peer-led Directors Roundtable Discussion headed by the Salon Curators, on Tuesday, March 17. Other scheduled events include a Q&A Panel with Rachel Chavkin, Alec Duffy, and Daniel Jáquez about creating your own opportunities on March 18; a night of works-in-progress featuring past alumni of the Salon and music by special guest artists Anna/Kate on March 20; and an evening of curated director-driven work on March 21.

The culminating event of the salon will be a night of staged readings on March 22. Seven playwrights were commissioned to write seven new 10-minute plays based on the prompt "to serve & protect." This year’s commissioned playwrights are Dennis A. Allen II, J. Julian Christopher, Kevin R. Free, Martyna Majok, Don Nguyen, Jiehae Park, and Riti Sachdeva.

The emerging directors put their names in a hat for a chance to direct one of these seven new plays with Claire Beckman, Nathaniel Claridad, Nilan Johnson, Jeremy Karafin, Anouk Kemp, Alex Mallory, and Christopher Weihert chosen at random.

The events ensemble of actors includes Bradley Anderson, Varín Ayala, Farah Bala, Sheldon Best, Rajesh Bose, Brian D. Coats, Kurt Benjamin Smith, Lucy DeVito, Jocelyn Kuritsky, Kareem M. Lucas, and Mandi Masden.
