In Transit, a new musical with book, music, and lyrics by Academy Award winner Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Frozen), James-Allen Ford, Russell Kaplan, and Sara Wordsworth, will receive two private industry readings on May 7 and 8. The new show is directed and choreographed by Tony winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies).
The reading's cast will feature Lindsay Mendez (Wicked), Erin Mackey (Chaplin), Ben Crawford (Shrek), Ryan Andes (Big Fish), Moya Angela (Ghost), Adam Bashian (The Phantom of the Opera. 25th anniversary tour), Colin Hanlon (Rent), Justin Keyes (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), Lulu Picart (Disenchanted!), Jamila Sabares-Klemm (Hair, first national tour), and Chesney Snow.
In the show, 11 performers take on multiple roles in a "vivid tapestry of characters and music in the city that never sleeps…or stands still." In Transit follows the intertwining journeys of an aspiring actress, a fledgling financier, a street-savvy beatboxer, a cab driver, and others as they find their way in New York City.
