Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney stars as former American intelligence specialist Reality Winner.
HBO Films’ Reality, a screen adaptation of Tina Satter’s 2019 play Is This a Room, will debut on May 29 at 10pm ET/PT. The film will air on HBO and be available to stream on Max.
Written and directed by Tina Satter (and co-written by James Paul Dallas), Reality stars Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria, The White Lotus) as former American intelligence specialist Reality Winner. Set on June 3, 2017, the film follows Winner as she is confronted by FBI agents arriving at her home to question her suspected role in the mishandling of classified information. Based on true events, the film’s dialogue is taken directly from the transcript of Winner’s interrogation.
In addition to Sweeney, the film also features performances from Josh Hamilton (Eighth Grade), and Marchánt Davis (Ain’t No Mo’) .
Is This a Room debuted off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre in 2019. The production subsequently transferred to Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre in 2021 starring Emily Davis as Winner.
