This year’s lineup of one-act solo musicals will feature new works by Jeff Blumenkrantz and more.
Premieres has announced the cast and creative teams for this season's Inner Voices, a biennial series of new one-act solo musicals, running October 22-November 17 at the TBG Mainstage Theatre, with opening night set for Thursday, November 1.
This year's lineup includes three works:
Scaffolding, with words and music by Tony Award nominee Jeff Blumenkrantz (Urban Cowboy), starring Tony nominee Rebecca Luker (Cinderella), and directed by Tony winner Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza), with music direction by Benji Goldsmith, in a musical that, according to a press release, "finds a single mom's relationship with her brilliant only child tested when he interviews for the college of his choice."
The Costume, with words and music by Daniel Zaitchik, starring Finn Douglas (School of Rock), and directed by Noah Himmelstein, with music direction by Deborah Abramson, in a musical that, according to a press release, "finds 10-year-old Leo on Halloween 1954 given the unexpected task of caring for an injured bird overnight."
And Window Treatment, with words by Deborah Zoe Laufer and music by Daniel Green, starring Farah Alvin (It Shoulda Been You), directed by Portia Krieger, with music direction by Paul Masse, in a musical that, according to a press release, "finds a lonely New Yorker planning her future with a stranger across the courtyard."
The creative team for Inner Voices includes Reid Thompson (set and props), Brooke Cohen Brown (costumes), and Aaron Spivey (lighting).
