The Broadway veteran looks to her favorite “Lady Bosses” for musical inspiration.
Broadway veteran Ciara Renée, who recently completed her run as Esmeralda in the Paper Mill Playhouse production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, will perform a solo concert at 54 Below on May 15 at 9:30pm.
Her show, titled Lady Boss, will feature jazzed-up arrangements of Broadway standards, pop, and R&B songs made famous by iconic female artists including Judy Garland, Whitney Houston, and Taylor Swift.
Renée will use the inspirational lives of her favorite female "Lady Bosses," as well as her personal experiences, to illuminate the challenges of being a strong female in the entertainment business without perpetuating the "Diva" stereotype. The actress and singer will partner with and perform alongside the Children’s Aid Society Chorus for the one-night-only concert.
Renée made her Broadway debut in 2013 as the Witch in Big Fish. She returned to the Broadway stage in 2014, taking over the role of Leading Player in the revival of Pippin. Most recently, she landed the role of Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl in the CW's proposed Arrow/Flash spinoff series.
