Tonight, November 23, the Broadway revival of Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre will make history as it surpasses Cats with a record-breaking 7,486 performances, making it the second-longest-running show in Broadway history. (The Phantom of the Opera remains the longest-running Broadway production.)

To mark the milestone, Ann Reinking, Bebe Neuwirth, James Naughton, and Joel Grey, who originated the roles of Roxie Hart, Velma Kelly, Billy Flynn, and Amos Hart in this production, will each make cameo appearances at various points in the milestone performance. The evening is expected to attract other Chicago alums including John O'Hurley, Marilu Henner, Michelle Williams, and John Schneider, among others.

Directed by Walter Bobbie, this Tony-winning revival production of John Kander and Fred Ebb's 1975 musical opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on November 14, 1996, starring Bebe Neuwirth as Velma Kelly, the show's Tony-winning choreographer Ann Reinking as Roxie Hart, James Naughton as Billy Flynn, Joel Grey as Amos Hart, and Marcia Lewis as Matron Mama Morton. The production later moved to the Shubert Theatre from February 11, 1997-January 26, 2003, and finally, to the Ambassador Theatre, where it currently resides.

Chicago now stars Bianca Marroquin as Roxie Hart, Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Christopher Fitzgerald as Billy Flynn, Paul C. Vogt as Amos Hart, Carmen Ruby Floyd as Matron "Mama" Morton, and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.
