The new dark comedy is directed by Trip Cullman.
The Atlantic Theater Company's world premiere production of Halley Feiffer's new comedy, I'm Gonna Pray for You So Hard, has begun rehearsals. The dark comedy stars Betty Gilpin as Ella, an actress whose sole aim in life is to make her playwright father, David, played by Reed Birney, proud. As a drug-fueled evening wears on, the pair deliberates over whether to read the reviews of her off-Broadway debut.
Trip Cullman directs the production, which begins performances January 7. The limited engagement opens January 20 and runs through February 15. Feiffer's plays also include How to Make Friends and Then Kill Them and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center of New York City.
