Atlantic Theatre Company artistic director Neil Pepe directs this world premiere play by David Mamet.
Rehearsals are underway for the world premiere of David Mamet's The Penitent at Atlantic Theater Company. Under the direction of Atlantic artistic director Neil Pepe, the cast of Chris Bauer (True Blood), Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (The Walking Dead), Jordan Lage (Our Town), and Rebecca Pidgeon (The Old Neighborhood) prepare for performances scheduled from February 8-March 28. Opening night is set for February 27.
In The Penitent a renowned psychiatrist (Bauer) is asked to testify on behalf of a young patient. When he refuses, his career, ethics, and faith are thrown into question.
The creative team for The Penitent features scenic designer Tim Mackabee, costume designer Laura Bauer, and lighting designer Don Holder.
Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet (Glengarry Glen Ross) cofounded Atlantic Theater Company in 1985. He was last produced by the company with a revival of his short plays The Shawl and Prairie du Chien.
