Asia Kate Dillon and others are added to its 33rd season.
Vassar and New York Stage and Film have announced the latest wave of casting for the 2017 Powerhouse season June 23-July 30 in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Emmy winner Richard Schiff (The West Wing) will star in the "Inside Look" workshop presentation of Lauren Yee's The Great Leap alongside Jeffrey Omura, David Shih, and Jeena Yi. The production, directed by Will Davis, will play the Susan Stein Shiva Theater at Vassar College from July 7-9.
In addition, Molly Ranson (Jerusalem) and Asia Kate Dillon (TV's Orange Is the New Black) will star in Kevin Armento's Good Men Wanted, along with Mayaa Boateng, Tom Coiner, Alex Esola, Emma Meltzer, Doron Mitchell, and Flor De Liz Perez. The mainstage production, directed by Jaki Bradley and with choreography by Ani Taj, will play the Powerhouse Theater from July 20-30.
Casting for The Secret Life of Bees and more will be announced shortly.
Now in its 33rd year, Powerhouse Theater is a collaboration between New York Stage and Film and Vassar College dedicated to both emerging and established artists in the development and production of new works for theater and film. The Powerhouse program consists of an eight-week residency on the Vassar campus during which more than 300 professional artists and 40 participants in the Powerhouse Training Program live and work together to create new theater works.
