”Cagney” will run at the York Theatre Company.
The York Theatre Company offered a preview of its new musical Cagney on May 13. Featuring a book by Peter Colley and a score by Robert Creighton and Christopher McGovern, the show begins performances May 19 for a run that continues through June 21.
Cagney tells the story of legendary stage and screen star James Cagney, following the actor from his humble beginnings in New York City's Lower East Side through his rise as a vaudeville song-and-dance man to his superstardom in Hollywood. Directed by Bill Castellino with choreography by Joshua Bergasse and music direction by Matt Perri, the production will star Creighton in the title role. Jeremy Benton, Danette Holden, Bruce Sabath, Josh Walden, and Ellen Zolezzi complete the six-person cast.
