Rosie's Theater Kids to Celebrate Jerome Robbins at Passing It On Benefit

Broadway’s Quentin Earl Darrington will offer a special guest performance at the annual concert.

Rosie’s Theater Kids, founded by Rosie O’Donnell with executive and artistic director Lori Klinger, will present Passing It On 2018: An Evening of Mentorship on April 22 at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College as its annual spring benefit.

The evening will feature performances by Rosie’s Theater Kids students and their professional mentors, including a tribute to the Jerome Robbins Centennial with mentors Tim Federle (Tuck Everlasting), Eliot Feld (West Side Story), Patrice Hemsworth, artist Scooter LaForge, Robert LaFosse (New York City Ballet), Chesney Snow (In Transit), Julio Monge (On Your Feet!), Regina Taylor (Drowning Crow), and dancer Maleek Washington. There will also be a guest artist performance by Quentin Earl Darrington (Once on This Island).

Jerome Robbins is world renowned for his work as a choreographer of ballets as well as his work as a director and choreographer in theater, movies and television. His Broadway shows include On the Town, Billion Dollar Baby, High Button Shoes, West Side Story, The King and I, Gypsy, Peter Pan, Miss Liberty, Call Me Madam, and Fiddler on the Roof. His last Broadway production in 1989, Jerome Robbins' Broadway, won six Tony Awards including best musical and best director.

RTKids was launched in 2003 at PS 51, a Title 1 public school bordering on the theater district where students would walk by Broadway theaters daily, and never have the opportunity to go inside. Today, RTKids services include performing arts instruction, life skills development, academic tutoring, and a home-away-from-home environment that is safe and nurturing.
