Tony Award winner Roger Rees (Peter and the Starcatcher) will star as Arthur Winslow in a Broadway revival of Terrence Rattigan’s The Winslow Boy at the American Airlines Theatre this fall. That production replaces the previously announced revival of Philip Barry’s The Philadelphia Story, which was to be directed by Rees’ Peter and the Starcatcher co-director Alex Timbers. Dates have yet to be announced.
Roundabout will also produce Evan Cabnet’s new play, Cutie and Bear Off-Broadway in the Laura Pels Theatre. Directed by Bekah Brunstetter, the play follows a married man and his increasingly complicated relationship with a down-on-her-luck young woman. I think we can all see where this is going…
Last Season’s Underground hit Bad Jews, about family drama and identity, will also play the Laura Pels. Click here to see the cast kvetching over several bowls of matzo ball soup.
Roundabout’s American Airlines season will also include the Broadway premiere of Donald Margulies’ Dinner with Friends (directed by 2013 Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Tony Award nominee Pam McKinnon) and a revival of Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing (directed by 2013 Uncle Vanya Drama Desk nominee Sam Gold).
