Roundabout Theatre Company’s 2013-2014 Broadway Season to Feature Roger Rees in The Winslow Boy

Based on a true story, The Winslow Boy is about Arthur Winslow (Rees) and his fight to clear his son’s name after he is expelled from Osbourne Naval College for stealing a five-shilling postal order. In Edwardian England, family honor is paramount and the Winslows are willing to spare no expense to restore theirs. Otherwise, who would ever invite them to any parties? The play was last seen on Broadway in 1948, but has been made into two films, including a 1999 adaptation by David Mamet. Tony Award nominee Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (Man of La Mancha) will play Grace Winslow. Lindsay Posner directs.

Roundabout will also produce Evan Cabnet’s new play, Cutie and Bear Off-Broadway in the Laura Pels Theatre. Directed by Bekah Brunstetter, the play follows a married man and his increasingly complicated relationship with a down-on-her-luck young woman. I think we can all see where this is going…

Roundabout’s American Airlines season will also include the Broadway premiere of Donald Margulies’ Dinner with Friends (directed by 2013 Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Tony Award nominee Pam McKinnon) and a revival of Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing (directed by 2013 Uncle Vanya Drama Desk nominee Sam Gold).
