The iconic musical opens on Staten Island this summer.
Tony nominee Sally Mayes (She Loves Me) will star as Momma Rose in the Harbor Lights Theater Company production of Gypsy, directed by Bill Castellino. Performances are set to run from August 7-16 at the St. George Theatre in Staten Island.
With a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Gypsy is based on the memoirs of the famous striptease artist Gypsy Rose Lee and follows her journey with the ultimate stage mother.
The cast will also include Emmy nominee Kathy Brier (One Life to Live), Mimi Quillin (Ragtime), Patti Mariano (42nd Street), Michael Marotta, Heidi Friese, Anthony Johnson, and Samantha Bruce, who will costar with Mayes as Louise.
Mayes' additional Broadway creits include Steel Magnolias, Urban Cowboy, and Welcome to the Club.
The production will be choreographed by Mary Ann Lamb and Lisa Gajda.
