Samantha Massell (Fiddler on the Roof) will play pioneering chemist Rosalind Franklin in the world premiere of the new musical Double Helix, opening the summer 2023 season at the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor.
With book and score by Madeline Myers, Double Helix is directed by Scott Schwartz. Previews begin Tuesday, May 30, with opening night set for June 3.
The new musical explores the life of young British researcher Rosalind Franklin, whose under-appreciated work was central to the discoveries of DNA, RNA, and more. The premiere coincides with the 70th anniversary of the discovery of the DNA double helix.
