The ”Waitress” composer will take center stage for a one-night concert performance.
According to Billboard, Sara Bareilles, Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter and the composer of Broadway's new musical Waitress, will star in a pair of concert performances of The Little Mermaid on June 3 and 4 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
The cast, backed by a 71-piece live orchestra, will perform songs from the original score while the 1989 film plays. Michael Kosarin will conduct the orchestra as well as a 12-person choir.
Bareilles will sing the role of Ariel alongside a cast that features Rebel Wilson as Ursula, the sea witch, John Stamos as Chef Louis, Tituss Burgess as Sebastian (the role he originated on Broadway), and Darren Criss as Prince Eric. In addition to the film's full score, the concert will also feature numbers from the 2007 Broadway production, including the song "Her Voice," sung by Prince Eric (Criss).
Tickets go on sale April 9 at 10am pacific time.
