Bareilles will have a limited return engagement in her musical.
Sara Bareilles will rejoin the cast of her Broadway musical Waitress beginning January 16, producers have announced. Her six-week stint will continue through February 25. For the first two weeks of her engagement, she'll star opposite her friend and collaborator Jason Mraz, who is currently making is Broadway debut as Dr. Pomatter. Mraz will play his final performance on January 28.
Inspired by Adrienne Shelly's 2007 motion picture, Waitress features music and lyrics by Bareilles, a book by Jessie Nelson, and direction by Diane Paulus. The production opened April 24, 2016, at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre and earned four Tony nominations.
Waitress also currently stars Drama Desk nominee Eric Anderson (Cal), Maia Nkenge Wilson (Becky), Caitlin Houlahan (Dawn), John Cullum (Joe), Will Swenson (Earl), Victoria Collett, Dayna Jarae Dantzler, Kayla Davion, Tyrone Davis Jr., Matt DeAngelis, Law Terrell Dunford, Katie Grober, Molly Hager, Molly Jobe, Brandon Kalm, Max Kumangai, Anastacia McCleskey, and Stephanie Torns.
The musical is choreographed by Lorin Latarro and designed by Scott Pask (sets), Suttirat Larlarb (costumes), Christopher Akerlind (lighting), and Jonathan Deans (sound). Nadia DiGiallonardo serves as musical director.
