Spector will reprise his Tony-nominated role as Barry Mann in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.
The Muny has announced principal casting for its upcoming production of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, running at the St. Louis venue June 12-18. Marcia Milgrom Dodge directs, with choreography by Patricia Wilcox, associate choreography by Kelly Liz Bolick, and music direction by Charlie Alterman.
Sara Sheperd, an understudy in the original Broadway cast of Beautiful, will star as Carole King. She will be joined by Jackie Burns (Wicked) as Cynthia Weil; Tony nominee Jarrod Spector, reprising the role of Barry Mann, which he originated on Broadway; Steven Good (Waitress) as Gerry Goffin; Noah Weisberg (Elf) as Don Kirshner; and Sharon Hunter (The House of Bernarda Alba) as Genie Klein.
Beautiful chronicles the early life and career of legendary singer and songwriter Carole King, beginning with her inauspicious Brooklyn upbringing. The musical features a book by Douglas McGrath and includes songs written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King as well as Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. The show’s recognizable tunes include “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” and more.
