Broadway's The Phantom of the Opera marked its 30th anniversary with a gala performance at the Majestic Theatre on January 24.

The evening reunited members of the original Broadway company, including leading lady Sarah Brightman, who took the stage alongside past cast members of Lloyd Webber's musical School of Rock, Brandon Niederauer, Ethan Khusidman, Evie Dolan, and Raghav Mehrotra, for an authentic, rock-and-roll edition of the title number. The company also toasted director Harold Prince, who celebrates his 90th birthday on January 30.

Swedish recording artist Peter Jöback serves as Broadway's 30th-anniversary Phantom, alongside Ali Ewoldt as Christine, and Rodney Ingram as Raoul. The 30th-anniversary company also includes Laird Mackintosh (Monsieur André), Craig Bennett (Monsieur Firmin), Maree Johnson (Madame Giry), Kara Klein (Meg Giry), Raquel Suarez Groen (Carlotta), Carlton Moe (Piangi), and Kaley Ann Voorhees, who plays Christine at certain performances.

Based on the classic novel Le Fantôme de L’Opéra by Gaston Leroux, The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it. He falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine, and devotes himself to creating a new star by nurturing her extraordinary talents and by employing all of the devious methods at his command. The musical opened January 26, 1988.
