Mel B, a.k.a. Scary Spice of the Spice Girls, recently joined the Broadway production of Chicago, and TheaterMania was on hand to capture one of her first curtain calls at the Ambassador Theatre.
Aside from being known as the iconic Scary Spice, Mel B also serves as a judge on America's Got Talent, Lip Sync Battle UK, and The X Factor. She made her Broadway debut in 2004 as Mimi in Rent. In Chicago, she takes on the role of Roxie Hart.
Featuring classic tunes by John Kander and Fred Ebb, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines. Recipient of six 1997 Tony Awards, the revival is directed by Walter Bobbie.
