Jim Parsons recently completed a Broadway run of the divine comedy.
Emmy Award winner Sean Hayes will star as God in a limited six-week West Coast engagement of David Javerbaum's An Act of God. Performances will run from January 30-March 13, 2016, at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre.
An Act of God is inspired by the best-selling book The Last Testament: A Memoir by God as well as by author and playwright Javerbaum's Twitter feed, The Tweet of God. The play follows the Almighty and His angels as they answer some of the deepest questions that have plagued mankind since creation.
Hayes is best known for his long-running role as Jack McFarland on NBC's hit sitcom Will & Grace, for which he earned an Emmy Award, four SAG Awards, an American Comedy Award, and six Golden Globe nominations. In 2010, he made his Broadway debut opposite Kristin Chenoweth in Promises, Promises. He earned a Tony nomination for his leading performance in the musical and hosted the Tony Awards ceremony that same year.
Fellow television star Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) starred in the title role on Broadway earlier this summer in a limited run at Studio 54 alongside Christopher Fitzgerald (Finian's Rainbow) as the angel Michael and Tim Kazurinsky (Saturday Night Live) as the angel Gabriel.
An Act of God features scenic design by Tony Award winner Scott Pask, costume design by Tony Award nominee David Zinn, lighting design by Tony Award winner Hugh Vanstone, sound design by Drama Desk Award winner Fitz Patton, and projection design by Drama Desk Award winner Peter Nigrini.
