To celebrate the fifth anniversary of Aladdin on Broadway, five current and former Genies — Tony Award winner James Monroe Iglehart, current star Michael James Scott, tour Genie Major Attway, and current Broadway standbys Juwan Crawley and Deonté L. Warren — came together onstage after the March 31 performance to perform a medley of songs from the show. Check out the performance below.
Based on the 1992 Disney animated film, Aladdin opened on Broadway on March 20, 2014. With a score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice with songs such as "Friend Like Me" and the Academy Award-winning "A Whole New World," the show features a new book and additional lyrics by Chad Beguelin.
In addition to Scott, the current cast includes Ainsley Melham as Aladdin, Arielle Jacobs as Jasmine, Jonathan Freeman as Jafar, Brian Gonzales as Babkak, J.C. Montgomery as the Sultan, Don Darryl Rivera as Iago, Brad Weinstock as Omar, and Mike Longo as Kassim.
