Movies at the United Palace returns with a screening of the psychological thriller starring Natalie Portman.
On April 24, the United Palace in Washington Heights will host a screening of the 2010 film Black Swan, which will immediately be followed by an onstage conversation between Hamilton composer Lin-Manuel Miranda and Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky, who recently revealed that he was working on a stage musical adaptation of the ballet thriller.
Black Swan stars Natalie Portman as a dedicated young ballerina who is cast in the lead of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. The pressures of the role (and the predation of the director) lead her down the path of madness. In addition to Portman, Black Swan features performances by Vincent Cassel, Mila Kunis, Barbara Hershey, Winona Ryder, and John Epperson (aka Lypsinka).
This screening marks the return of the “Movies at the United Palace” series, which this year will host screenings of When Harry Met Sally, The Devil Wears Prada, and If Beale Street Could Talk. The series is sponsored by the Miranda Family Fund with support from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Tickets are free to the public and will be available here next Monday, April 17 at 9am.
The United Palace is a historic 3,300-seat auditorium in upper Manhattan. It will be the venue of this year’s Tony Awards.
