Singin' in the Rain Screenings Will Receive Live Accompaniment From NJSO

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra will perform the full score to the classic musical film Singin' in the Rain during screenings on Saturday, February 7, at 8pm and Sunday, February 8, at 3pm. The February 7 performance will be held at NJPAC in Newark, and the February 8 performance will take place at State Theatre in New Brunswick.

Conductor Constantine Kitsopoulos will lead the orchestra as the movie is projected above the stage. Patrons can also arrive early and join in a sing-along of great film songs beginning one hour before each performance. The February 8 performance is presented in collaboration with the State Theatre.

Singin' in the Rain depicts 1920s Hollywood — the period when talkies were beginning to replace silent films. The American Film Institute has named the classic 1952 film the greatest musical film and fifth greatest American movie of all time. Singin' in the Rain is written by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, is directed and choreographed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, and stars Kelly, Donald O'Connor, and Debbie Reynolds. The movie includes a host of classic tunes such as "Good Morning," "Moses Supposes," and the title number, "Singin' in the Rain."
