According to published reports, Skylar Astin and Alex Newell are set to star opposite Jane Levy in Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, NBC's new hourlong musical dramedy created by Austin Winsberg (Jake in Progress), Paul Feig (Bridesmaids), Eric and Kim Tannenbaum (Two and a Half Men), Universal Music Group, and Lionsgate TV.

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist follows Zoey (Levy), a woman in her late 20s who is suddenly able to hear the thoughts of people around her as songs that they perform just for her. Astin will play Max, a coworker of Zoey's, and Newell will play Mo, a neighbor of hers.

Astin, who starred as Jake in the Pitch Perfect films, was part of the original cast of Spring Awakening on Broadway. Newell, who played Wade "Unique" Adams on Glee, most recently played Asaka in the Broadway revival of Once on This Island.
